Why do I have a hundred channels yet nothing to watch? I never had that problem with only five channels. Sure, I had to actually get off my butt to change the station, but it was worth it. I can still hear the different clicks between VHF and UHF, feel the victory when you got the antenna just right, and the agony of defeat when one antenna lost its tension and just would not cooperate. Now we watch whatever we want, whenever we want, but there was once an order to things, a guide by which to plan your week. Reruns were reserved for the summer, when you left the house and didn’t return until the streetlights came on. I appreciate today’s technological advancements, but I have reverence for the days when TVs were looked at as furniture and a VCR cost more than your couch.
